German Tenor Uwe Eikötter is currently under contract at the Natinaltheater Mannheim.

 

He has established an international reputation for his exceptional combination of vocal and dramatic skills and remarkable versatility.

 

Mime in Siegfried is quickly becoming a signature role with performances at the

 

  • Nationaltheater Mannheim 2001 (Martin Schüler/ Jun Märkl ,Adam Fischer) and since
  • 2012 in the current Ring-Production from Achim Freyer/Dan Ettinger.
  • Other Ring-Cycle productions in Budapest (Mime Siegfried),
  • Tokio (Mime Siegfried - KeithWarner/Jun Märkl),
  • Breslau/Poland (Loge Rheingold , Mime Siegfried -Hans-Peter Lehmann/Eva Michnik),
  • Cottbus (Mime Siegfried - Martin Schüler/ Evan Christ),
  • Weimar, Wiesbaden (Mime Siegfried), Darmstadt, Karlsruhe (Mime Rheingold).

 

Among his repertoire he specializes in roles by Richard Strauss (Herodes, Tanzmeister) and other Wagner roles (Loge, David, Steuermann, Walther v.d. Vogelweide) and Mozart (Podesta, Monostatos, Pedrillo, Basilio)

 

Equally comfortable in 20th century repertoire, he has performed operas by Henze, (Armand des Grieux) in Boulevard Solitude, Berg (Hauptmann), Britten (Albert Herring, Flute, Quint) and Janacek (Laca) to great success.

 

As a guest artist he has performed in numerous theatres including Basel, Festspielhaus Baden Baden, Budapest, Dortmund, Dresdner Musikfestpiele, Essen, Frankfurt, Karlsruhe, Wiesbaden, Staatsoper München and Staatsoper Hamburg, working with Kent Nagano, Adam Fischer, Dan Ettinger, Stephan Soltesz, Axel Kober, Gustav Kuhn, Jun Märkl, Friedemann Layer.

 

Mr. Eikötter, born in Kirchlengern, Germany, studied Opera and Lied in Vienna with Prof. Rolff Sartorius and Prof. Kurt Equiluz. His first working engagements brought him to Bremerhaven and Bremen and he participated in master classes with Diane Forlano.

 

He can be heard as Goro in Madama Butterfly with Naxos, where he received praise as the finest singer on the recording. (rondomagazin.de)
